Leisure World Kansas Luncheon

The Leisure world residents from Kansas held their annual luncheon on January 29, 2009 at Harold's Kitchen. Larry and Trudy Hauserman were the hosts. We had 23 that attended. Trudy Hauserman, Darrel & Janice Booth, Don & Dorothy Schiesser, Alfred & Linda DeCock, Roger & Gracene Holuska, Mac & Dottie McVey,, Charles Green, Marilyn Farmer, Wes Nelson, Frank & Mary Jaegle, Roy & LaVelma Wagner, Bob & Marleen Lane, Shirley Rollins, Duane Ogleby and Jeanne Ghent.

We had a buffet lunch and after lunch Don Schiesser shared some interesting Kansas History. Don also involved the crowd with each sharing some history from the area's they live in. We heard information about the Dalton Brothers, different Capital's of Kansas, the Oregon Trail, and lot's more. We even learned that Shirley Rollins had a distant relative that was a JUDGE!!

I would like to thank all for coming. We had a great time. A special thanks to Don & Dorothy Schiesser for helping me set up.

We are sorry to hear that Kansans, Tom & Donis Hanrahan are moving back to Topeka due to Tom's health. We wish them well and they will be missed very much.

Leisure World Gospel Jam

PRAISE THE LORD...was the message given on January 18th as the first Gospel Jam was presented at the Leisure World rec hall. Mary and Stan Gainer felt there was a need for some special music to be shared and many others joined in.
Wow, what talent we have in our park. Dona and Jim Lawson, Larry Hayes, Barry Brice, Mary and Stan Gainer, Marian and Leonard VanDriese, Joe Petaway and Jeanette and Bob Thompson were just a few of the entertainers. Several from other parks joined in the jam making the total approximately twenty-five jammers.
The turnout of approximately 125 in the crowd was great and all seemed to enjoy the music.
Mark your calendar as the next Jam will be held February 1st, 1:30 PM. Anyone wishing to join the group notify Stan and Mary Gainer, Lot #305.

New Year's Eve Dance

There will be an article in the Leisure Lore about the New Year's Eve Dance. It was a very entertaining evening. Lots of door prizes and food. Our residents and guests danced to the music of "Iowa Kountry Opry".

ILLINOIS/INDIANA BREAKFAST

When you mix Illinois, Iowa and Indiana ladies together, what do you get? FUN AND CRAZY TIMES which Phyllis Connett, Mary Gainer, Marilyn Thompson and Gwen Brown are sharing as they gather at Beto's on Wednesday, January 14th. There were twenty-four Illinois/Indiana Leisure World friends who met for the monthly breakfast organized by Bob Clark.
It is interesting when you start talking and realize that you are close neighbors back up north. Marilyn Thompson from Iowa joins us each month and we have assigned her to be our designated coffee server. Several of our Illinois Leisure World friends could not make the date this time but will join us next month. Watch for the sign-up sheet for the time and place. Kay and Harold Monroe will be our hosts for February, as Bob Clark will be going in for knee surgery. We wish Bob the best. We welcome all Illinois/Indiana Leisure World friends to join us. We do have a great fun time.

Killer Bee Hockey

Have you ever been to a hockey game? It was an event I wasn't sure if I would be interested in, but went for the first time and I was very impressed. Dick and Phyllis Connett, Trudy and Larry Hauserman and Jeanette and Bob Thompson enjoyed the Killer Bees playing against Corpus Christi on Tuesday, December 30th at the Dodge Arena in McAllen. Tickets are very inexpensive and the entertainment is great. Bob Thompson has a sign-up sheet in the rec. hall for those interested in going. If you've never been to a hockey game you should definitely try it. What a fun evening and thanks to Bob and Jeanette.
