Passing of an Angel
It is with deep sorrow that we have to announce the passing of Ali Borgen. She was the granddaughter of Gary and Delores Moen. We have followed her illness for four years. She went thru so much ,but with the care she recieved, there was always hope. She planned her last party down to the smallest detail. It was the highlight of her short life. The entire town rallied behind her and helped her raise $10,400 for childrens cancer research. So that the final tribute was a celebration of her life. She will be missed by all who knew of her. Now her journey to a new pain free life begins. We celebrate with her but we will miss her at the same time. Ali was 14 years old.

Mother, Daughter & Granddaughter Meet in Akumal, Mexico
Josh Stifter a few days in Akumal, Mexico. We enjoyed the beach, toured the Mayan Ruins in Tulum, went snorkeling, shopped at many different places and had some great quality time together. Teresa, Jennifer and Josh hated to return to the cold weather in Minnesota.

27th Annual Longest Causeway Run & Fitness Walk
Ever since I have been coming to RGV I have wanted to participate in the annual Causeway Run/Walk. This winter more of our friends here in Leisure World cummunity were also interested in doing the 3 mile walk.
Bright and early Saturday morning, wearing our matching event Tshirts, 11 of us headed to SPI. I
I think I can say for the group that we all had a GREAT TIME and the weather was perfect for us. We had some clouds to keep it from being too hot as well as a nice breeze. A bonus for us was getting to see dolphins on the north side of the bridge as we were walking. We are always looking for adventures and always enjoy finding new and fun things to do.
Why don't you join us some time?

Gospel Jam
Sunday January 2nd, the second annual Gospel Jam was held in Leisure World hosted by Stan Gainer. Twenty five jammers and seventy-seven listeners attended. Refreshments were served at break time. Listening to the talents of singers and musicians is extremely pleasurable for a relaxing Sunday afternoon.
Stan and Mary Gainer would like to thank everyone who helped in any way whether playing an instrument, singing, bringing refreshments and/or listening. A special Thank You goes to Larry and Carolyn Richeson for all of their help.
We extend an invitation to everyone to participate in the jams. Anyone who
sings or plays an instrument or just enjoys listening is welcome. The next jam will be held February 6, 2011.
Ladies of Leisure World so generously contribute refreshments for the Jam. Those contributing
refreshments for Sundays jam were:
Phyllis Connett
Carolyn Richeson
Bev Forsythe
Ruth Elliot
Marilyn Ward
Delphine Peterson
Mary Gainer
Larry and Carolyn manage the kitchen and refreshments during the Gospel Jam. Larry and Carolyn always have a smile for all the guests and are very helpful with many duties required to run a jam.

William Bitters
Bill Bitters lost his fight with life monday night. Bill and Reyma had been coming to the valley for several years. Bill has been in declining health for several years but insisted on coming down here. On the way to Texas this time, Bill's health became worse and as soon as they got here he was admitted to the hospital. He never recovered and passed away monday evening. The body has been sent back to Attica, Michigan. There will be a memorial service in April. Reyma has decided to remain here with friends and relatives until then. Rema is on Palm Way Lot #54. Our prayers and thoughts are with her and her family at this difficult time.
