.We recieved word that Donis had been feeling bad for a long time.They.wern''t sure what was wrong with her.until she finally broke out with this rash. It was shingles. that is very painful. Daniel Hernandez

Our maintenance man, Daniel Hernandez, was badly injured while he was mowing his grass at his house, a week ago. His ankle was broken in several places. It is not known when he will be able to return to work. Since the accident happened at his home he will not be eligible for workman's comp. some residents are making contributions to assist the family at this time. Anyone wishing to participate may send it to the office.

Mel Herrmann Update

Mel had a defibrillator-pacemaker implanted Friday May 11th. He is doing real well. He still gets real tired when he's up too long. He has to have his rest. He would enjoy hearing from all his friends.

Death In Family

I just received word from Carolyn Richeson that Mary Gainer has lost her sister, Brea.  She has been ill for some time.  I know Mary would love to hear from her Leisure World Friends so please send her a word of sympathy.

On our way to Minnesota we stopped and visited Dorothy Nill at her home in Ellsworth, WI. She looks good and seems happy in her new house.

Ruben Baltus Update

Ruben Baltus has lost his  fight for life today. His brain was badly injured along with his broken neck. He also had injuries to his spine. I don't have any information on the services. You can also call his daughter, Sue,  at     715-325-6568  Ruben was a long time member of Leisure World and served in many differant positions. He will be missed by all.

Surgery Goes Well

Knobby underwent a kidney stent replacement on May 2, 2012. This time everything went well, and we were back home by 6:00 that evening.  He is still battling the shoulder pain, and at the present time is undergoing therapy.

Soup Supper/Movie

No pictures because once again I forgot to bring my camera...however, a couple of dozen Leisure World Residents enjoyed a Hillbilly Bean Soup supper last evening. Loaded with ham and assorted beans, plus, Al and Linda DeCock prepared a delicious supper for us. Added to the hearty ham and bean soup was fresh cornbread and a wide assortment6 of desserts.  Thanks to the DeCocks for a great kickoff to eating our way through May.
About a dozen gathered at 7:00 for our weekly movie, "Seven Days in Utopia". This was one I hadn't heard much about, but found to be thoroughly delightful. One thing that I liked and will remember was the "grace" delivered at the family meal.  I had not heard this before, but will share it with others in the future.  It goes like this:

For food in a world where many walk in hunger;
For faith in a world where many walk in fear;
For friends where many walk alone;
We give thee thanks.

Rueben Baltus

We received the news that Rueben Baltus was in a very serious car wreck. It was a one car roll over accident. He has a broken neck, and other serious injuries. He will be in the hospital and in rehab for a long time but I,m sure he would welcome cards and letters from all his friends. His home address is 8411 Hwy 13S, #36  Wisconsin Rapids, WI  54494..
